site.btaPatriarch Daniil Presents Icon for Bulgarian Orthodox Temple on Livingston Island

Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil presented Prof. Christo Pimpirev, the head of the Bulgarian Antarctic mission, with a consecrated icon of the Theotokos for the Bulgarian orthodox temple St Ivan Rilski on Livingston Island, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church said on its website on Monday.

Daniil wished for a successful completion of the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition during a liturgy in St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. "We are glad that little Bulgaria has been maintaining a base in Antarctica for so many years, and we are glad for your achievements in the scientific field," he added.

The Patriarch said: "The conditions there are difficult, and it is not easy to work, to live. May God, in His mercy, in His grace, strengthen you and make you happy with the achievement you make. Where ice persists, and winds are strong, may faith, courage, bravery, honesty, brotherly love strengthen you, shine in your hearts and help you in your useful labours."
