The Varna University of Economics will open a Doctoral School in the field of tourism, said Vice-Rector Bistra Vasileva on Wednesday.
Vasileva indicated that the first intake of eight PhD students is expected to be implemented in the spring of 2025, with the courses to be interdisciplinary. She specified that the project team had previously held talks with the entrepreneurs along the Black Sea, which will form the basis of the courses.
She noted that the business community's main demands are for specialists in the field of Dynamic Pricing, Digital Marketing, Human Resources Management, as well as Resources and Sustainable Development. In addition, companies have indicated that they need experts in customizing offers and integrating new technologies into existing business models.
University Rector Evgeni Stanimirov underscored that the university has been successfully partnering with businesses for years and that the ideas of EU's Green Transition and Blue Growth will fit very well into the new project.
The project is worth a little over BGN 1 million, provided under the science programme of the Education and Science Ministry. The tourist chambers in Varna and Burgas will be associated partners of the project.
