The lowest temperatures in December in Bulgaria will be between minus 10C and minus 5C, and the highest - between 15C and 20C. Anastasia Kirilova from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) presented the weather forecast for Bulgaria for December.

According to her, in December of 2024 the average monthly temperature is expected to be around the norm, which in Northern Bulgaria and the high fields is from 0C to 2C, in the Upper Thracian lowland - 2C to 3C, on the Black Sea coast and in the southernmost regions - 4C to 6C, and in the mountains - from minus 8C to minus 2C.

Monthly rainfall will be around the norm, which in most of the country is between 40 and 60 litres per square metre, in the mountains - up to 70 litres per square metre, and in the southernmost regions - between 70 and 110 litres per square metre.

In early December there will be precipitation in many places in the country, in the mountains above 600-800 metres there will be snow.

During the first ten days of the month, temperatures will be around the norm in most of the country, but lower than average in the southwest. There will be significant cloud and precipitation in many parts of the country early in the month. It will be mostly rain, in the high fields in western Bulgaria and the mountains above 600-800 metres - snow, significant amounts in the southwest. 

Temperatures will remain close to the norm in the second ten days. There is a higher probability that most days of the period will have significant cloud cover and rain, in mountainous areas The probability of precipitation will decrease in the third ten days of December. There are likely to be some days with more significant breaks and temporary decreases in clouds, but then in the lowland part of the country, the probability of foggy or low-layered clouds increases when the wind subsides.

Temperatures will stay around average for the period, Anastasia Kirilova said.
