site.btaBulgaria Has EU's Highest Increase in Construction Production in September, Eurostat Says

According to seasonally adjusted data, in September 2024 compared to the previous month, production in construction decreased by 0.1% in both the euro area and the EU, Eurostat said. Year on year, construction production decreased by 1.6% in the euro area and by 2.0% in the EU.

Bulgaria reported the highest year-on-year increase (5.2%) in construction production among the EU member states. Compared to August 2024, construction in Bulgaria increased by 0.4%. 

Among Member States for which data are available, the largest annual decreases in production in construction were recorded in Slovakia (-19.1%), Slovenia (-17.6%) and Poland (-9.0%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+5.2%), Italy (+3.9%) and Portugal (+3.3%).

On an annual basis in September 2024, a decline of 2.7% was recorded in the EU countries in the construction of buildings, while a decrease of 2.2% was recorded in civil engineering.
