The Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) presented a new latest-generation artificial intelligence chatbot designed to work in Bulgarian language on Tuesday. The event took place at the Rector's Office of Sofia University and was attended by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, caretaker Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov and Sofia University Rector Prof. Georgi Valchev.

INSAIT Supervisory Board Chair Prof. Martin Vechev and Executive Director Borislav Petrov presented the possible applications of the new artificial intelligence and data on its performance in comparison with some of the most popular products of technology giants from around the world.

"Artificial intelligence is one of the most significant and transformative technologies globally, entering all areas of society - education, healthcare and many others", Vechev stressed, adding that there will be no area where artificial intelligence "will not break through or enter". He noted that one of the most important strategic questions for any country at the moment is not whether it will use artificial intelligence, but whether it will create its own artificial intelligence and develop its own models and technologies, or whether it will hire artificial intelligence from other countries or companies.

"This day is very important and a turning point for Bulgaria because through INSAIT the country created the first artificial intelligence on a global level", Vechev also said, adding that INSAIT's new generative model is freely available at https://models.bggpt.ai/ and can be downloaded and integrated into the systems of any Bulgarian institution, private company or public organization. "A key advantage of the model over paid platforms is the information protection feature: it can be used by an organization without having to share its data with other companies", he said, explaining that in education, artificial intelligence systems can be built based on these new models for personalized learning of students, taking into account their grades, feedback, background, etc.

The best thing is that the Bulgarian language is preserved through this model and the purity of the language is preserved in the digital age, which is an enormous contribution of both INSAIT and Sofia University, said Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

"Artificial intelligence is not only a leading field in technology, but is very important for national security and for education development", said Minister Galin Tsokov. He also talked about the use of these new AI models in Bulgarian education, in Bulgarian universities and in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

"The new model presented by INSAIT shows how much natural intelligence there is in Bulgaria, and a significant part of it is at Sofia University", said University Rector Georgi Valchev. He noted that there are many fears among people about the way AI is used - and now the Bulgarian State shows one of the best ways it can be used.

The event was attended by MPs, university rectors, professors, researchers and students.
