Greening is taking responsibility for future generations, Mayor of Sofia Vassil Terziev said on Tuesday during the conference "Green Business is GREAT", held at Hilton Hotel in Sofia. He confirmed the words of caretaker Environment and Water Minister Petar Dimitrov, who stressed that 70% of harmful emissions are due to activities in large cities. According to Terziev, it is extremely important to pursue green policies and to preserve the legacy of previous generations in order to be passed down to future generations.
"Sofia has joined the ambitious programme of the 100 green cities, which aims to reduce emissions by 80% by 2035," the Mayor said. He specified that the main areas for action include transport. The goal is that by 2040, 80% of city travel will be by public transport or alternative means of travel.
