Border police officers have found two illegal migrants hidden in a van at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkiye, Border Police said in a press release on Tuesday.

During an inspection carried out on Monday, a border police officer found migrants hidden under the penultimate and last rows of seats in the vehicle driven by a 39-year-old man from Kardzhali. The migrants have been identified as Syrian nationals.

The driver and the migrants were detained at the Svilengrad border police station, and further investigations are underway.
