Bulgaria and Romania are ready for Schengen, said Romanian Ambassador Brandusa Predescu, addressing a discussion entitled "The cost of non-membership of Schengen for Single Market: Impact on Bulgaria and Romania". The forum is held in Sofia and is organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Association and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

The two countries have moved together in the same direction for a long time and this should also hold true for the future, Ambassador Predescu said.

“We should not compete with each other and talk about which country is ahead and works better. All the teams doing the checks are assessing both countries simultaneously,” she said. Ambassador Predescu said that the Romanian and Bulgarian authorities and law enforcement agencies cooperate very well.

“We work on a daily basis, the whole of Europe is watching us closely and following our work closely. Bulgaria and Romania have only one way forward - completing their integration into the European Union and the common market,” she added.
