A consortium of Skoda Transportation and Skoda Wagonka has been selected as a contractor for the supply of 20 single-deck electric multiple unit trains, with a capacity of at least 300 seats, maintenance for a period of 15 years and staff training. The decision of the commission to select the contractor was signed on Friday by Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov, the ministry's press service said.

The consortium offered a price of BGN 511.4 million and a delivery period of 24 months.

Second in the ranking is the consortium BUL20EMU (Alstom Transport SA, Alstom Ferroviaria SpA and RVP Invest) with a proposed price of BGN 659 million.

The delivery of the rolling stock is financed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. It will be used for the long railway routes in the country, such as Sofia-Burgas, Sofia-Varna and Sofia-Ruse.
