Three barns and two houses burned down in a fire that broke out on Wednesday in Novo Selo, Strumica municipality, media in North Macedonia reported. A conversation with the victims by the director of the Crisis Management Centre, Stoyanche Angelov, shows that according to them the fire broke out from a spark produced by a short circuit of high voltage wires and this is not the first time this has happened.
A helicopter was also called to extinguish the fire. There were no casualties, but according to the chief of the fire service in Strumica, there was a lot of material damage.
In recent weeks, North Macedonia has been hit by a large number of fires, which have been tackled with the help of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
