Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov issued a statement Monday regarding Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria's (CC-DB) decision to ask President Rumen Radev to delay the handing of the second government-mandate to allow them time to seek broad public support for a proposed declaration containing a package of legal changes to enhance the fight against corruption. "We are glad that CC-DB finally recognized Vazrazhdane's idea to fight corruption," he said, quoted by his party's press centre.

Kostadinov argued that "the next thing they [CC-DB] should recognize is the demand of Vazrazhdane and 604,000 Bulgarian citizens for a referendum to preserve the Bulgarian lev".

"The fight against corruption is unthinkable in the absence of democracy. That is why it does not matter who the prime minister is if he does not respect the will of the Bulgarian people and their democratic right to hold a referendum," Kostadinov said.
