site.btaPensions Upped by 11% as of Monday
Pensions granted until the end of 2023 are increased by 11% as of Monday. The increase applies to more than 2 million pensioners. Payment of the higher pensions is due to start next Monday, 8 July.
"I believe it is a good increase, considering that inflation is below 11%, and it would protect people's incomes, caretaker Social Minister Ivaylo Ivanov commented for BTA.
Also from Monday, survivor pensions increased to 30%. Minister Ivanov noted that this has been the first increase in the so-called "widow supplement" in years.
The minimum retirement pension becomes BGN 580.57. The minimum amount of other types of pensions related to work activity (disability, inheritance pensions) is set as a percentage of the minimum retirement pension.
The amount of the social old-age pension is also increased: to BGN 307.07 from BGN 276.64.
