''Conscious of my own unworthiness, I believe in God's providence and God's support,'' were the first words to journalists of the new Bulgarian Patriarch - Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin. He was elected on a ballot between him and Metropolitan Gregory of Vratsa earlier on Sunday.

69 delegates voted for Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin.

The process of the enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch and a prayer service is currently underway. In a procession, the newly elected Patriarch left the Synodal Palace and reached the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. The gathered laity chanted "Worthy" and applauded him.
