The conditions for mountain hiking are poor on Monday, according to the Mountain Rescue Service. There are snow drifts above 2,300 metres.
Rain clouds, showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the afternoon, with heavy rain in places. The highest parts will have a strong to stormy southwesterly wind, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said. Highs: 24C at 1,200 m, 16C at 2,000 m.
