Transport Ministers Georgi Gvozdeikov of Bulgaria and Marat Karabayev of Kazakhstan had an online session to discuss the development of transport links between their countries, Gvozdeikov's ministry reported on Monday. Bulgaria's deputy transport ministers Anna Natova and Dimitar Nedyalkov also took part in the talks.
Gvozdeikov said Bulgarian ports have idle capacity and potential to handle an increase in trade with Kazakhstan. The Black Sea ports of Varna and Burgas can take additional cargo originating from the Central Asian country, he said. Gvozdeikov and Karabayev see potential to upgrade transport connectivity between Asia and Europe. They discussed a future memorandum of understanding to promote transport and logistic connectivity.
The hosts invited senior company executives from Kazakhstan to visit Varna and Burgas to learn firsthand about their port capacities.
