The newly registered legal entities in Bulgaria in the first quarter of 2024 were 12,229, which marked a 7,4% decrease compared to the same period last year, the National Statistical Institute said on Wednesday. The legal entities declared bankrupt during the first three months of 2024 were 992, down by 14.1% compared to the same quarter of last year.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, newly registered legal entities increased by 13.1%, and those declared bankruptcy by 1.5%. 

The relative share of newly registered legal entities is the largest in the "wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles" sector - 88.4% of all newly registered units in the first quarter of 2024. Among the companies declared bankrupt, the largest amount fall in the same sector - 78.3% of the total number of bankrupt legal entities for the same period.
