The young Czech pianist Matyas Novak will perform in Sofia on April 25, the Czech Centre in the Bulgarian capital said on Tuesday. The concert will include works by Bedrich Smetana, Leos Janacek, Josef Suk and Antonin Dvorak.
The event is part of the Year of Czech Music Programme and is organized by the Czech Centre with the support of the Antonin Dvorak Museum in Vysoka u Príbrame and the Czech Embassy in Bulgaria.
Matyas Novak was born on 20 June 20, 1998. He started playing piano at the age of five. He graduated from the Conservatory of Pardubice. Novak is currently studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. At the same time he is a student at the piano academy Incontri col Maestro in Imola, Italy.
He won the international competition for young musicians Concertino Praga (2015) in the category "Duets", the grand prize of the competition Evangelia Tjiarri in Larnaca, Cyprus (2015), the competition of conservatories and music schools (2016). Novak is also a winner of the Jenö Takács Klavierwettbewerb (2016), the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition (2017).
