Untold Stories of Bulgarians Presented in Greek by Poet Aksinia Mihaylova

The Greek translation of Bulgarian poet Aksinia Mihaylova's book of poetry S Ochite na Angeli, Zatvoreni v Priyut [With the Eyes of Angels Shut in an Asylum] was presented at a creative meeting in Komotini, Greece, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science reported Friday. The event was organized by the Bulgarian language and culture department at the the Democritus University of Thrace as part of a project about building cultural bridges through literature, implemented under the Education Ministry's The Untold Stories of the Bulgarians programme.

Attending the meeting were Greek students from the Bulgarian Language and Literature programme at the Democritus University of Thrace. They presented their translations of Bulgarian poetry under the music accompaniment of guitarist Giorgos Lyratzis, a graduate of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria). Over 60 students are currently enrolled in Bulgarian Studies in Komotini.

Also among the guests were representatives of Bulgarian Sunday schools in Alexandroupolis, Komotini, Xanthi, and Kavala as well as from the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, which co-organized the meeting.

The participants were greeted by Natalia Mihalevska, Chef de Cabinet of Education and Science Minister Galin Tsokov, and the ambassadors of the Untold Stories of the Bulgarians initiative - writer Zdravka Evtimova, historian Georgi Dimov of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and composer Haygashot Agasyan.
