Stoyan Petrov and Roselin Bachevski secured the first two medals for Bulgaria at the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships in Porec, Croatia. They advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, which means they will win at least bronze medals.
Under the guidance of Olympic champion Stoyka Krasteva and Fikret Eredzhebov, they scored clear wins after obviously discouraging their opponents with their performance.
At 86 kg, Petrov left no chance to Zaur Azizov of Moldova, winning the match in the second round. On April 12, Petrov will fight against Josip Tokic, a representative of the host country, for a place in the finals.
At 92 kg, Bachevski gave a very compelling performance too. He scored a quick win against Wiktor Kluska of Poland. In Friday's semi-finals, the Bulgarian will face Leo Fonawah of the UK.
In the women's division, Bulgaria's Hristea Ninova lost to Emine Kilinc of Turkiye in the 50 kg weight class by a 0-5 decision.
