Bulgarian Football Union's integrity expert Mario Kosturkov took part Tuesday in the debut edition of International Association Football Federation’s (FIFA) Integrity Summit, dedicated to fighting match-fixing. The event took place in Singapore and was attended by experts in the field from 191 countries.
At the invitation of FIFA, among the guest speakers were officials from the United Nations, Interpol, the FBI, leading sports analysis firms and bookmakers' associations.
The meeting was opened by FIFA Judicial Bodies Director Carlos Schneider. The participants were then welcomed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who made a special video address. He called for a united effort from the UN, FIFA, national associations, bookmakers, law enforcement, fans and media to tackle match-fixing.
The working part of the forum focused on prevention, education, and early prevention of such vicious practices. FIFA representatives were adamant that they would fully assist the national federations in their fight against these illegal activities.
