On this date in Bulgarian history:

1909: The Sublime Porte recognizes Bulgaria's independence (declared September 22, 1908).

1927: The Radio Act is adopted, allowing citizens to own radio sets.

1990: Bulgaria restores diplomatic relations with Chile, broken off after Pinochet's coup d'etat in 1973.

2004: Bulgaria is invited to join the Missile Technology Control Regime.

2005: The Union of Bulgarian National Electronic Media is established.  

2011: The Bulgarian Credit Rating Agency (BCRA) becomes the first such agency in Bulgaria and the third in the EU to obtain registration.

April 7

The world:

- Rwanda Genocide Memorial Day;

- World Health Day. 

Bulgaria:

- Health Workers Day; 

- Day of Sofia Medical University.

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1900: First issue of "Tsurkoven Vestnik" [Church Gazette] of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church comes out.           

1909: Serbia and Montenegro recognize Bulgaria's independence.

1933: St Nedelya Cathedral in Sofia is reconsecrated following reconstruction, after a bombing attack on April 16, 1925 badly damaged the building, killing over 150 and injuring 500 people. 

1957: Aleko Konstantinov Theatre of Satire is established.

1989: Military Medical Academy with the Defence Ministry is established.

2004: The largest imaging centre in the Balkans opens at the Military Medical Academy.
