Meeting on Monday, the Government approved a draft international contract for Amendment No. 2 to the Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) BU-D-SAB "F-16 Block 70 aircraft and associated support"/ BU-D-SAB LOA A2, said the government press service.

The proposed draft contract does not change the value of the BU-D-SAB LOA "F-16 Block 70 aircraft and associated support" international contract but provides for various changes to its content (adjusting values and reallocating funds between separate lines, changing transportation codes, clarifying the modalities for providing information on upcoming deliveries, etc.).

It is standard U.S. government practice to propose amendments and modifications to existing Foreign Military Sales programme (FMS) contracts when adjustments to their contents are required.

Currently, six of the aircraft are at different stages of production. The production is taking place according to schedule as the first two F-16C Block 70 and F-16D Block 70 are planned to be completed at the end of July 2024. These two aircraft will be used to train Air Force engineers and technicians in the US.

The delivery of the first aircraft to Bulgaria is expected at the end of March 2025. During the visit the Bulgarian delegation observed a flight of a F16C Block 70 manufactured for Slovakia.
