site.btaTennis Player Viktoriya Tomova Reaches Second Round at WTA 1000 Tournament in Miami

Bulgaria's highest ranked female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova won 6-2 6-4 her first round match against world No. 77 Tamara Korpatsch at the WTA 1000 Miami tournament in the US on Wednesday evening.

The Bulgarian, who is currently ranked at No. 73, scored her first victory against the German after losing their four previous encounters on the Tour. 

This was her second career win in Miami after she managed to get through the first round in 2023 too. Thus, this becomes the first WTA 1000 tournament at which she has achieved more than one victory. 

Her opponent in the second round will be world No. 27 Caroline Garcia. The two played each other earlier in March at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells where the French player won 6-1 3-6 6-3.
