The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism will present Bulgaria as a destination for year-round health tourism, preventive care and rehabilitation, the cost of which will be reimbursed by the German health insurance funds, the Union said. The March 5 event at ITB Berlin, the world's largest travel trade show, will be held under the patronage of the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry.

Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova, Bulgaria's Ambassador to Germany, Grigor Porozhanov, and Csilla Mezosi, Secretary General at the European Spas Association, will be official guests at the forum. It will be moderated by Carmen Struck, the official representative of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism in Germany.

Germany is a key market for Bulgarian health tourism because more than 20 million people a year opt for out-of-hospital preventive care - in that country and abroad - covered by their health insurance, the Union said. In 2019, the German health insurance association included Bulgaria in the list of countries where it reimburses the costs of preventive care and rehabilitation.

The March 5 event in Berlin is part of the consistent policy of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism to position and rebrand this country on the German market as a destination for quality year-round health tourism, the Union said. Its President, Secretary General and Management Board members, mayors of municipalities and investors in the largest Bulgarian medical/SPA and SPA facilities will participate in the event.
