The ski area in Pamporovo (Southern Bulgaria) was partially reopened on Monday, Pamporovo AD said. Lightning struck several lift facilities in the resort, but work is underway to repair the damage. The ski area is expected to be fully reopened on Tuesday, Pamporovo AD Executive Director Mariyan Belyakov told BTA.

In a thunderstorm that hit the mountain area in recent days, lightning fell in the lift area. The thunderstorm affected equipment mainly in the area of Snezhanka Peak, but other lift facilities have also been damaged. Some of the ski slopes in Pamporovo are not working after the heavy wet snow fell and are subject to treatment. The resort warned skiers to obey all signs in the ski area.
