Bulgaria's leading female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova secured a new career-high ranking as she reached No. 65 in the world on Monday. Tomova reached the second round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, Australian Open, which helped her rise 5 places in the rankings of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
The Bulgarian claimed her first Australian Open main draw win on January 15 against American Kayla Day.
Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov defended his ranking points from Australian Open 2023, reaching the third round of the competition in January. His ranking remained unchanged on Monday - No. 13 in the world. Dimitrov is 240 points behind No.10 Stefanos Tsitsipas. He was last a member of the top 10 in early November 2018.
