Bulgarian triple jumper Gabriela Petrova met the qualifying standard to participate at the European Athletics Championships in Rome which will take place in June. The 31-year-old Petrova, who missed the 2023 season due to an injury, participated on the sidelines of the National Indoor Championships for juniors up to 20 years old at the Festivalna Hall in Sofia, recording 14.38 meters, which also rose her to the top of the 2024 world rankings in the women's event, displacing Slovenia's Neja Filipic (13.90 meters).

Petrova also became the first triple jumper since the start of the 2024 season to cross the 14 metres mark.

The Bulgarian athlete fell 17 centimetres short of meeting the qualifying standard for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
