The European Innovation Council (EIC) is organising a local information day on funding for high-tech research and innovation in Sofia. The event, which will be conducted in English, is to be attended by European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova, and Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov. The information day will take place on January 29, 2024, between 9 am and 5 pm, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Innovation and Growth Ministry said on its website on Monday.
Representatives of Bulgarian companies will have the opportunity to learn from EIC representatives about the different strands of the Horizon Europe programme, and to receive information about the opportunities to support innovators and researchers in deep technologies.
Companies will be given practical information on how to make their applications successful. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the experiences of EIC beneficiaries Accelerator and Pathfinder.
The EIC is the European Commission's largest initiative to support innovation across the lifecycle from early-stage research to proof-of-concept, technology transfer, funding and scaling-up of start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, the formal communication said.
Through its three instruments, Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator, ECI provides funding to research organisations, start-ups and SMEs in the form of grants and equity/investments. The financial support per start-up recipient reaches up to EUR 17.5 million. The organisation has a budget of EUR 10.1 billion for the 2021-2027 programme period.
