Yavor Michev is the winner of the National Award for Photographic Art Anastas Karastoyanov for 2023. The award ceremony took place at the Art gallery "Prof V Zahariev" in Samokov on Saturday.. The prize is awarded for significant achievements in photographic craftsmanship, for creative temperament, for the strength of the author's message. It was awarded by the Samokov Municipality Mayor Angel Dzhorgov.

This year's winner received a statuette, a diploma and a cash prize of BGN 1,000.

Samokov Municipality adopted the statute and established the National Award for Photographic Art by a decision of the Municipal Council in 2017. It aims to give recognition to the first Bulgarian photographer Anastas Karastoyanov and his family - pioneers of Bulgarian photography, and to emphasize the Samokov's role for the development of photography in the country.
