The European Commission (EC) expressed Monday its readiness to organize a new fact-finding mission in Bulgaria related to Schengen, as such request was made by the Netherlands. "We confirm that the Netherlands asked for a complementary fact-finding mission to Bulgaria," the EC Spokesperson for Home Affairs, Anitta Hipper stated in response to a question by the Bulgarian News Agency.

The Commission considers that both Bulgaria and Romania meet the requirements for full Schengen accession, and it fully supports the Schengen accession of the two countries, the statement says. The EC will continue to facilitate the dialogue between the concerned Member States to ensure that a decision is taken as soon as possible, including by organizing a fact-finding mission, it adds.
