Big Band Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) under the baton of Antoni Donchev will unveil its new concert season on November 23, BNR said Monday. The opening concert from the New European Music series will present music created by Andy Schofield, one of the most successful European jazz musicians.

The British saxophonist, composer, and arranger from Manchester visited Sofia back in the early 1990s, when he played and made recordings with leading Bulgarian musicians, such as Antoni Donchev, Hristo Yotsov, and Vasil Parmakov. Now, Schofield returns to present his author programme together with Big Band BNR.

Schofield is a founding member of the innovative Creative Jazz Orchestra in the UK in the mid-1990s. He has worked with artists such as Kenneth Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Peter Erskine, Michael Gibbs, Vince Mendoza, and John Taylor. He has been on tours and recorded with George Michael and Anthony Braxton, among other artists. He is a member of several European jazz formations, currently heading the Jazz Dock Orchestra big band in Prague.
