During a working meeting with Swedish counterparts in Stockholm, Minister of Tourism Zaritsa Dinkova said one of Bulgaria’s priorities is to regain its position in the Nordic market, the press centre of the Ministry of Tourism reported.

Minister Dinkova presented the opportunities for year-round tourism in Bulgaria. "We can offer Swedish tourists much more than the traditional summer and winter products. Bulgaria is the second country with the most mineral springs in Europe. Our offers for recreational and spa tourism are extremely diverse and competitive in terms of price to quality ratio," she said.

At the suggestion of Minister Dinkova, the two sides agreed to sign a bilateral agreement on tourism development. Sweden is showing increased interest in spa and wellness, wine and gourmet tourism, as well as opportunities for joint projects within the European Union.

Minister Dinkova's visit to Sweden continued with a business meeting with the management of Nordic Leisure Travel Group (NLTG). The market leading tour operator for the Nordic countries realizes 1.5 million holiday trips per year. The group has an integrated model that includes tour operations, its own airline and hotels.

“The Scandinavian market is strategic for Bulgaria and the Black Sea coast. I am convinced that we can successfully build on our long-standing partnership,” Minister Dinkova emphasized. The importance of the Bulgarian market for the Swedish side was also acknowledged by the hosts, who have implemented permanent charter flights to Bulgaria from eight different airports in the Nordic countries in the period May-September 2023, the ministry said.
