Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov met on Thursday with the Ambassador of Spain in Sofia Alejandro Polanco, the prosecutor's office said.

During the meeting, Spain's declared support for Bulgaria's accession to Schengen, which is one of the priorities of the current Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, was discussed, highlighting the importance of this accession for strengthening European unity.

Among the topics discussed were the forthcoming reforms in the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria related to the judiciary, as well as the fight against cross-border organised crime, corruption and terrorism.

The talks also highlighted the traditionally good relations and excellent cooperation between the law enforcement and judicial authorities of the two countries.

Sarafov confirmed the readiness of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office to cooperate actively with the European partners in the field of international law enforcement and the resulting challenges for law enforcement.
