"It is up to us to turn a new page in the history of Sofia, said after voting in the Sunday local elections Boris Bonev of the Save Sofia movement, who is the top-of-the-list candidate for municipal councillor of the Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (Save Sofia) local coalition, the latter said in a press release.

He called on citizens to come out and vote. "Vote early because paper ballots are slower and queues form. Remember, there is no second round for the municipal council. Whatever is decided today will stay for the next 4 years. That is why it is very important to get people who love Sofia on the municipal council," said Bonev.

"Sofia will change. Because I, because we will no longer accept that "this is the way things are here", he added.

According to Bonev, the ban on machine voting in this election is an "active measure." "A nasty case with very good coordination between [secret] services, parties and institutions. It was pure sabotage of the electoral process. But I hope that with mass voting, despite paper ballots, people will show that they are not happy with what happened," Bonev added.
