The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) signed a partnership agreement with the European Polytechnic University (EPU) on Thursday. The event took place in the newly opened BTA press club in the western Bulgarian city of Pernik.

The document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and the Rector of the University, Prof. Marin Marinov.

Valchev explained that every week BTA will publish information about EPU's activities in its specialized column for education, science and culture, LIK. The most interesting materials will also be published in English, said the BTA Director General. He noted that the university has quite a number of foreign students and that it is part of a larger Italian educational network. The information will be of interest not only for Bulgaria, Valchev pointed out.

“It is an honour for us to be in cooperation with the first and oldest news media in Bulgaria,” said Prof. Marinov and congratulated the news agency on its 125th anniversary. He added that the university will try to be a worthy partner, and what they can do is try to bring in positive news. The EPU Rector pointed out that the cooperation will also promote the university and hopefully increase the number of students, which will benefit the municipality of Pernik and the whole country. Marinov expressed his gratitude for the contract, for the cooperation and promised to send positive news about the educational institution.

Earlier on Thursday, a new BTA press club opened its doors in the city of Pernik.
