The seventh Shorthanded regatta will start in Varna on October 6, said the organizers. The crews will compete between Varna and Balchik, and back.

The race is for yachts over 28 feet with two-man crews. Initiator Stoyan Kirov said that participation in the Shorthanded regatta (single or double) is considered an expression of sportsmanship and faith in one's own strength. The sailors show skills in dealing with the challenges of the sea and meteorology on their own, as well as respect for the other participants, he also pointed out.

Rem Management, part of the Norwegian Rem Offshore AS, Ultramarine Sailing Sports Club, LZ Yachting 1991 Yacht Club, Port of Varna EAD and EasyTracking are involved in the organization of the regatta this year.

The competition is a successor to the Solitary regatta, which was held for the first time 25 years ago by the late Boris Ganchev, the organizers recalled. For many years the regatta did not take place, but it was restored in 2013 on the initiative of Varna sailor Stoyan Kirov.
