Poets from six countries will take part in this year's edition of the Sofia Metaphors international festival. It will take place on September 23 and 24, the organizers said.

To present poems dedicated to Sofia are Mónika Mesterházi (Hungary), Kristina Kočan (Slovenia), Florina Zaharia (Romania), Çağla Meknuze (Turkiye), Fahredin Shehu (Kosovo), and Bulgarian poets Petar Chouhov, Ivasha Hristova, and Alexander Arnaudov. Also to participate in the forum are pupils from the Erich Kästner German Language School in Sofia.

After the official opening at Sveta Nedelya Square on September 23, the poets will visit three locations in Sofia. They will have 30 minutes to write a poet dedicated to the corresponding location. Later the same day, the Czech Cultural Institute will host an international poetry reading.

The closing festival evening is on Slaveykov Square on September 24, where the authors will present their works in both their native tongue and translated in Bulgarian.

The festival is organized by the Sofia Metaphors Foundation with the support of Sofia Municipality's Culture Programme, the Czech Centre in Sofia, the Liszt Institute in Sofia, Sofia City Library, and the Erich Kästner German Language School.
