site.btaMinister Tagarev, Swiss Ambassador Discuss Prospects for Developing Bilateral Defence Cooperation

The prospects for the development of bilateral defence cooperation and issues on the current security agenda in the Black Sea region were the main topics of the meeting between Minister of Defence Todor Tagarev and Swiss Ambassador to Bulgaria Raymund Furrer, the Defence Ministry reported on Monday.

The traditionally good security and defence partnership between the two countries was noted. Tagarev highlighted Switzerland's contribution to the training of Bulgarian servicemen in the field of civil-military relations and international security issues, emphasising the role of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in this area.  

The talks also focused on the modernization projects for the Bulgarian army. The Minister of Defence thanked Switzerland for the opportunity to train this year Bulgarian Air Force servicemen on the AS 332 LI Full Flight Simulator (FFS). Such training for helicopter pilots is also planned for 2024.
