It is a challenge to bring together organisational structures and science, but this is the only way to achieve useful results for healthcare, said on Friday Prof. Dr. Andrey Kehayov, President of the Southeast European Medical Forum (SEEMF) at the opening of the Twelfth International Medical Congress in Thessaloniki. He stressed that policies cannot be made without a proper public debate, in which representatives of the medical profession and NGOs need to participate. "At this forum, we should set an example of open discussion at the international level," said the SEEMF President.

The twelfth edition of the event brings together nearly 400 delegates from 25 countries in Europe and the USA. Representatives of Bulgarian national and regional institutions, international organisations and media are taking part.

Representatives of international organisations and foreign delegates will give information about the most up-to-date developments in health care in their countries. "We will hear the most relevant findings at the European level, from the most prepared specialists," said the SEEMF President.

The Forum’s programme includes discussions on current topics related to immunology, cardiology, reproductive health and pain.
