Bulgaria’s tennis pride Grigor Dimitrov was eliminated in the third round of the US Open Men.

Dimitrov lost to Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (Germany) 7:6(2), 6:7(8), 1:6, 1:6 in an evening session match at Louis Armstrong Court in New York. The match lasted three hours and 39 minutes.

Dimitrov, ranked 19th and semifinalist of the 2019 US Open, demonstrated a very high level in the first two sets, which lasted a total of two hours and 30 minutes. It was followed by a completely different third set for the Bulgarian, who conceded two breaks at the start and fell behind 0:4, eventually losing 1:6 in 29 minutes after the German tennis player took advantage of his second set point for a third break.

In the fourth set, Dimitrov’s physical problems were visible, and he was not at the level of the first two parts, making more errors. Nevertheless, he tried to fight. Dimitrov survived four break points in the second game before Zverev converted his fifth chance to take a 2-0 and then a 3-0 lead.
