Czech cyclist Michal Schuran from the team of ATT Investments is the champion of the 70th edition of the Tour of Bulgaria.

In the last, fifth stage - 128,4 km from Sliven to Shumen - he finished in the middle of the main group, which was enough for his final success.

The winner of the stage was Michele Gazzoli of the Astana Qazaqstan Development Team. The Italian took the final sprint in Shumen and registered his second success in the race after winning the second half of the first stage on Sunday. The 10-second lead earned propelled Gazzoli into second place in the overall standings. Third in the overall standings is Switzerland's Felix Stehli of Education First, who remained second behind Gazzoli in Thursday’s standings. Third place in the stage went to Slovakia's Matus Stocek of AAT Investments.

Of the Bulgarians, Martin Papanov of Nessebar Shockblaze finished seventh in the Tour.

In the team standings, the champion is the Polish Voster ATS team, followed by ATT Investments and Education First.

This weekend, a new test awaits most of the Tour of Bulgaria competitors. That's the two-day "In the Footsteps of the Romans" race. It will take place in the area of Razlog, Bansko and Banya and like the Tour of Bulgaria is categorized 2.2 by the International Cycling Union.
