The Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov has approached the Romanian Minister of Environment Mircea Feket, relaying the concerns of the citizens of Ruse about the construction of an incinerator for medical and animal waste in the town of Giurgiu (across the Danube from Ruse). This was announced by the press centre of the municipality in the Danube-side town on Tuesday.

A letter was also sent a few days ago to the Bulgarian Minister of Environment and Water, Julian Popov, enclosing all the statements against the construction filed in the municipality's office, as well as the petition organized by citizens, in which nearly 1,700 Ruse citizens participated.

The Ruse City Hall informs that another petition against the construction of the incinerator has been submitted to the Municipality. Additional negative opinions were also received. All of them will be summarized and sent to Minister Popov.

The director of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in Ruse, Tsonka Hristova, announced a few days ago that the eco-inspectorate had also issued a negative opinion on the project proposal for a medical and animal waste incineration plant, as its exhaust could reach the city of Ruse across the river.
