site.btaArgentinian Captain Receives Honorary Sign of Defence Minister

On August 28, on behalf of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ambassador Stoyan Mihaylov awarded Captain Juan Nicolau of the Argentine Navy Armada "For Faithful Service Under the Flag".

The decoration is awarded to the Argentine captain for his significant contribution to the realization of the first voyage of the research ship RSV 421 to the Bulgarian base on Livingston Island in Antarctica.

Juan Nicolau was seconded by the Argentine Armada aboard the Bulgarian ship during its maiden voyage to Antarctica as part of Bulgaria's 31st Antarctic Expedition.

In his address, Ambassador Mihaylov warmly thanked Argentina for the valuable logistical support provided to the Bulgarian expedition over the years. He expressed his gratitude to Juan Nicolau, who with the responsible performance of his duties and sharing his rich experience of navigation in the icy waters of Antarctica, contributed to the calm and safe maiden voyage of the Bulgarian ship.

The event was organised in conjunction with Rear Admiral Marcelo Tarapow, head of the Armada's education branch.
