The Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO) has audited 20 of the 30 contestants of the October 2, 2022 parliamentary elections (14 parties and 6 coalitions), BNAO said in a press release on Tuesday, announcing the publication of its audit report.

Ten auditees (8 parties and 2 coalitions) were not found to have committed financial violations of the Election Code.

Two parties (There Is Such a People and Conservative Alliance of the Right) and two coalitions (BSP for Bulgaria and Continue the Change) continued to raise funds for the election campaign even after its end.

Five parties (Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Rise Up BG, There Is Such a People, The Truth and Nothing but the Truth People's Party, and Direct Democracy) and five coalitions (BSP for Bulgaria, Bulgarian Rise, Democratic Bulgaria, Just Bulgaria and Continue the Change) failed to report all their revenues. One party (Vazrazhdane) and two coalitions (Democratic Bulgaria and Continue the Change) failed to report all their expenditures.

Vazrazhdane was the only auditee that violated the legal requirements for sources of financing and financial support of their campaign: the party was financed by a sole trader whose contribution was subsequently reimbursed.

All auditees with the exception of the The Truth and Nothing but the Truth People's Party and the Democratic Bulgaria coalition  complied with the requirement to use bank transfers only for financing campaign revenues and expenditures in excess of BGN 1,000.

A total of 233 natural persons provided or donated funds exceeding BGN 1,000 for campaign financing. Of these, 179 persons were found to have incomes consistent with the amount of their contributions, and such information was unavailable for 54 persons. Thirteen persons of those 54 were found to have declared income exceeding the amount of their campaign contributions.
