site.btaArtist Yulian Tabakov Presents Genesis Exhibition Series in Varna

Yulian Tabakov will present his exhibition series Genesis in the Varna City Art Gallery from August 9 until  September 9. In the past month, his exhibition was on display in Plovdiv, and before that it was in Sofia, Ruse, Varna, Stockholm and Berlin, the artist's team reported.

The works in the exhibition were created in the last 7 years and are presented in an adapted version for different exhibition spaces.

 is the final installment and also the title of a triptych of the same name along with "Moments" (2015) and "Portrait of a Dying Titan" (2021). The projects make up an art series, which include Vacuum (2022), objects and a video installation, the organizers of the event say.

Yulian Tabakov is a visual artist. His education includes set design at the National Academy of Arts - Sofia, fine arts at ENS des Beaux-Arts - Paris and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design - London. After 2002, he settled in Sweden and Bulgaria, where he carried out set and costume design projects for over 60 theatre and opera productions, feature films and documentaries. He illustrates children's books and collections of poems, directs feature-documentary films. He has had solo exhibitions and participated in group shows in Bulgaria, Sweden, Czechia, and the USA. Among his awards are the Society of Illustration NYC's Stephen Dohanos Award and the Asker Award for the costume design of the play "Idiot 2012" based on Dostoyevsky. He was awarded the Golden Age for his contribution to the development of Bulgarian culture.
