Energy, pharmaceuticals, information technology, agriculture and machinery for the processing of agricultural products are sectors in which Algeria is interested in cooperating with Bulgaria, stated the country's Ambassador Messaoud Mehila at a meeting with Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Chair Tsvetan Simeonov, the BCCI said on its website on Friday.

The agreement reached was that the BCCI together with the embassy team will organize a hybrid event focused on the new legislation and investment opportunities in Algeria. The two sides agreed that such an event would have a positive effect on the development of bilateral economic relations.

Holding an exhibition of Algerian goods in Sofia was also discussed at the meeting. Details of the specific dates of the events are pending.

Ministry of Economy and Industry data show that in the first three months of 2023, Bulgaria's trade with Algeria amounted to USD 273.3 million. marking an increase of 188.9% compared to the same period of 2022. Bulgarian exports amounted to USD 233.5 million. (a growth of 285.3%), and imports reached almost USD 39.8 million . (a growth of 17%). The significant increase in trade is due to the continuing trend of growing Bulgarian wheat exports (90% of total exports).
