The parliamentary committee on policies for Bulgarians abroad approved sending a letter to caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev to provide one-off financial support to Bulgarian families living in extreme poverty in the Taraclia region of Moldova. This transpired during Wednesday's meeting of the parliamentary committee.
Aid packages of BGN 100 are planned to reach nearly 5,000 Bulgarian families.
The letter has already been examined and approved at a meeting of the labour and social policy committee.
The request to open and finance a Bulgarian cultural and information centre in Taraclia was also examined.
The committee members also discussed the possibility of granting a new status to the Taraclia State University "Grigorii Tsamblak" and examining the proposal to transform it into a Moldovan-Bulgarian university.
The conversion proposal is quite new and will be discussed further in the coming days.
In addition, it became clear at the beginning of this week that the additional funding of BGN 1 million for the university in Moldova has already been transferred.
