July 6 (BTA) - Prime Minister Stefan Yanev had a meeting
with Slovenia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Anzej Franges, the
Government Information Service said on Tuesday. They discussed
bilateral relations and matters on the EU agenda in the context
of the priorities of the Slovene Presidency of the Council of
the European Union in the second half of 2021.

Yanev and Franges looked at the goals of the Slovene EU
Presidency concerning the bloc's recovery and resilience, the
organization and conduct of major events in the framework of the
Conference on the Future of Europe, trends related to the
European way of life, the rule of law and the need to ensure
equality for all.

Concerning the second most important priority of the Slovene EU
Presidency, the Conference on the Future of Europe, Yanev drew
attention to the key role of debate and proposed concrete
matters which can be included in it.

In the context of EU enlargement, Yanev and Franges discusses
the European horizon for the Republic of North Macedonia. Yanev
called for more effective dialogue and a real will to tackle the
contradictions between Sofia and Skopje. Special emphasis was
laid on honouring the commitments arising from the bilateral
Treaty of Friendship, Good-neighbourliness and Cooperation and
taking real action to protect human rights and abolish hate
speech. It was noted that Bulgaria's partners in the EU tend to
take the side of the Republic of North Macedonia and put the
blame on Bulgaria for no valid reason. RY/CE
