Sofia, July 28 (BTA) - In June, 51.3 per cent of the accommodation establishments participating in the monthly survey of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic situation, registered no change in revenues compared to May 2021, while 29.2 per cent registered an increase. A total of 2,563 establishments (hotels, camping sites and other short-term accommodation establishments with at least ten beds) took part in the survey, the NSI reported Wednesday.

Asked about their expectations for July, 41.5 per cent forecast they will be able to cover "up to 100 per cent" of their expenditures with own resources, 41.2 per cent expect to cover "up to 50 per cent" and 16.9 per cent, to fail to cover their expenditures with own resources.

Asked about their future short-term activity, 67.8 per cent think they will continue working, 22.4 per cent will continue working but at a reduced capacity, 6.1 per cent will close temporarily, and 2.1 per cent will shut down permanently.

In June, 52.4 per cent of respondents offered clients an alternative accommodation period to use their bookings, 62.8 per cent a discount on their package of services, and 42 per cent a discount on overnight stays.

Last month, 9.1 per cent gave their employees paid leave, 7.7 per cent placed them on unpaid leave, 7.1 per cent made personnel cuts, 6.4 per cent switched to part-time work, 3.6 per cent reduced salaries, and 2.4 per cent made their employees work from home. Twenty-one per cent of accommodation establishments took advantage of the government's measures in support of employers amid the COVID-19 situation.
