Good Weather Conditions for
Sowing of Wheat
in Dobroudja

Dobrich, Northeastern Bulgaria, September 9 (BTA) - The wheat
sowing campaign in Dobroudja - Bulgaria's breadbasket, is
expected to start in the second half of the month in good
weather conditions, Director of the Dobroudja Farming Institute
Ivan Kiryakov said. Despite the heavy summer rains, the soil is
not excessively damp, he said.

Kiryakov expects no change in the acreage put under wheat in the
 new farming year. Usually, wheat in the region is sown on
100,000-120,000 ha. The best time to complete the sowing is
October 25.

The Dobroudja Farming Institute will make available 1,500-2,000
t of wheat seeds. The seeds most in demand are the varieties
Enola, Christie, Dragana, Lazarka. Two new seed varieties
developed by the Dobroudja Farming Institute, Kalina and Chiara,
 will be offered for the first time. SN /ZH/
